The recovery project of the Ginoriana estate is part of a broader vision to create a new epicenter within the ecosystem surrounding the village of Querceto, reinforcing the close relationship between village life and the estate’s agricultural activities. The Casale Campordigno, a 440-square-meter farmhouse on two floors, stands on a hilltop overlooking the vineyards to the south-west and the Val di Cecina to the north-east. The design adopts a conservative approach, aimed at minimizing waste and restoring the building’s original character. The structure has been consolidated where necessary, with new timber floors, restored openings, and interiors insulated with rice-straw panels — a sustainable agricultural byproduct — finished with breathable natural plasters that ensure a healthier indoor environment. The spatial layout revives the Tuscan enfilade, where rooms follow one another in sequence without corridors. This creates long visual perspectives, relations between spaces, and deeper penetration of natural light. The project thus balances conservation and innovation, bringing back to life the farmhouse’s authentic identity while integrating sustainable materials and contemporary comfort.
